The engineer training program under the “Ulaanbaatar Metro” project has officially commenced for the 2025–2026 academic year, successfully enrolling its first cohort of students.
On December 24, 2024, the Capital City Governor’s Office, the Mongolian University of Science and Technology, and Halla University signed a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding to collaborate on training specialized metro engineers. This agreement laid the foundation for implementing the program.

As metro development is a new sector in Mongolia, preparing qualified teaching staff is equally important. In this regard, faculty members who completed a six-month combined theoretical and practical training program at Halla University have returned and welcomed the newly enrolled students.
The undergraduate “2+2” program allows students to study the first two years at MUST in Mongolia and the following two years at Halla University in South Korea, graduating with dual degrees. Halla University is recognized for its extensive experience in infrastructure and engineering and was involved in implementing South Korea’s first metro project.
For the 2025–2026 academic year, students are being trained in the following four fields:
This milestone marks a significant achievement in developing human resources for the sector. The program has successfully welcomed its first students at the School of Mechanical Engineering and Transportation, MUST.
Going forward, the program is expected to play a key role in developing highly skilled professionals for Mongolia’s metro sector and nurturing engineers capable of working at an international level.
